What's to Come, Future Blog Ideas & Aspirations:
Events
We would love to get more on-the-ground reporting going on a daily/weekly basis. So much happens at Eastern Market and we hope to establish this blog as a communications resource for upcoming events. Stay tuned!
Note: Dream of becoming a reporter/journalist? Is Matt Lauer/Katie Couric your hero? Send us an email to get involved in neighborhood/event reporting at eastern.marketlife@gmail.com
Neighborhood News
While Eastern Market is a historical landmark and physical building, as a community member, I always envision the surrounding area as part of the EM I know and love. We would love to report more on not only new vendors and developments at the Market but also throughout the broader community! New restaurants, new stores, new partnerships, new happenings - you get the idea.
More in-depth interviews with vendors
We have featured a few vendors and given shout outs to others but we are hoping to slowly work our way to speaking with and writing about each vendor. This may take a while but we look forward to featuring each and every vendor!
EMCAC (Eastern Market Community Advisory Committee)
Sneak peek of who they are and what they do here. More to come!
Citing
Just a quick note about citing our blog sources.
I grew up in the high school age where you were afraid to write a sentence without identifying the source. As a result, annotating and bibliographies = my BFFs.
We try to give credit to contributing bloggers at the beginning of their posts and, as the reader, it is safe to assume the materials (text, images, etc.) belong to that particular blogger unless otherwise noted. If ever there is a question, please comment and we will reply!
And if you are a high school teacher teaching your students to annotate and bibliograph (oh yea, it can be a verb), please feel free to use this blog as real-world evidence that footnotes and end notes are alive, well and relevant!
Comments
We would love to see more comments - if you are out there and reading/following Market Life, please give a shout! Furthermore, if you are reading and have ideas/input/feedback, we would love to hear it: good, bad and... pretty much just the good and bad. No need to get ugly here :)
In fact, if you are reading today's post, give a shout out below.
Makes. our. day. Just. that. easy.
Thank you for listening, tuning in and loving Eastern Market.
Hi, I am a graduate student at GW and am working on a Folklife project about the Eastern Market community. I was wondering if I could get in touch with you about answering a few questions for me involving how you personally use and observe others using the space as well as the overall Market community. Here is my email if you are interested, erinmhowe@gmail.com. Thanks!
