  Energizing with Eastern Market

Hi fellow Eastern Marketers, my name is Greg and each week I will be dispensing tips on how to energize for an active lifestyle. It is no secret that the Washington region is full of outside entertainment such as running along the National Mall, kayaking on the Potomac, biking along the Anacostia, hiking in Great Falls, and even playing kickball. Enjoying these wonderful activities requires energy and there is no better place than Eastern Market to find that energy.

One of my favorite runs is from Lincoln Park to Lincoln Memorial roughly 7.5 miles. It is straight with the only hill being of course Capitol Hill. Nothing beats seeing all the monuments and running down along the reflecting pool. The only dangers are tourists, protesters and the occasional presidential motorcade.

After finishing any of my runs, I always make a point of refueling with not only water but also protein. Eastern Market is an excellent source of all things protein. One of my favorite sources of protein at the market is the jerky from either Agora Farms or Market Poultry. Agora Farms has beef jerky while Market Poultry has turkey jerky. Agora Farms has many different tasty flavors such as Sweet Heat, Hot Lava, Hickory and Applewood. Besides being tasty, jerky is nutritious and portable which makes it an excellent choice for the professional on the go.  Did you know that NASA astronauts often request jerky for flights?
